The goals of the Community Volunteer Tutoring Program are: to provide academic tutoring for individual students while increasing students’ self-esteem and motivation to learn; to provide satisfying opportunities for adults to make a lasting contribution to children and schools; and to establish and strengthen partnerships with the community for quality education.

All Bryant teachers, grades K-5, have the opportunity to request volunteer tutoring services for their students during the school day. This includes individual, small group or general classroom assistance with reading, writing, math or science. Teachers request tutors to assist students on specific days and times with various subjects. Once the Volunteer Coordinator receives the request for tutors, she tries to find a suitable tutor match from the pool of community volunteers. After school, volunteer tutors staff the Homework and Skill Center. Teachers refer students, grades 3-5, for help with their homework and targeted skill areas. Tutors work individually with students providing academic focus and support, building self-esteem and modeling time management and organizational skills.
