Drama at Bryant
The Bryant Drama Program is an enrichment program partially funded by the PTSA and run by a parent committee. The committee strives to provide all students at Bryant with the opportunity to participate in theatre arts classes, view visiting troupes and take part in performances. Drama at Bryant happens in four areas:

  • Theatre arts specialists teach "in-class" lessons as part of an arts enrichment curriculum
  • Drama classes are offered after school (for a much reduced fee) by a variety of local and regional arts groups (such as Seattle Children's Theatre and professional instructors)
  • Students experience on-site theatre productions at Bryant
  • The 4th/5th grade play, organized by the committee, is directed by local theatre professionals and is self-sustaining (raising it's own funding for operational expenses)

School Play Auditions PDF Print E-mail

The Bryant Drama Committee is very excited to announce the March premier of Sophi Sagall Hopkins newest work, “The Queen’s Visit or The Story of How William Shakespeare Got His Big Break”. A surprise visit from the Queen throws the village into an uproar as villagers try to prepare a fitting reception. When William’s imagination adds in Puck, Caliban & Macbeth’s Witches a madcap romp ensues. Fairies, sword duels, mistaken identity make this a fun play for any actor. There are lots of parts for actors and different kinds of jobs for techies.

The play will once again be directed by Carmel Baird of Seattle Public Theater. Auditions this year will take place on Monday, Dec 14th at 6:00pm. Auditions are open to all 4th and 5th graders who sign up in advance.  Registration packets were distributed in classes the end of October and can also be downloaded here.  They are due November 12 to ensure we have enough parts for actors.
